Hi! My name’s Bryanna and I’m an advocate for freedom. I haven’t always been passionate about freedom, but that was back when I was a slave.
When I was 19, I spent 6 months studying justice in Australia and Asia. As my team and I worked to prevent injustice, specifically human trafficking, in Nepal, India, and Thailand, I discovered there are more people living in slavery today than at any other time in history.
Human trafficking is a terrible crime, trapping an estimated 27 million people in lives of prostitution, forced labor, and debt bondage, but human trafficking isn’t the only kind of slavery in our world today. Everywhere, billions of people are living as slaves to lies about who God is, who they were created to be, and their responsibility to a world they’ve been anointed to free.
Living in Slavery
For years, I struggled to please a god who expected me to be nothing less than perfect. I accepted the lie that I wasn’t good enough, that I could never be loved by a god who was perpetually disappointed in me.
But then I met my God, the true God, the one who loves me with an everlasting love, and I learned the truth. God doesn’t want me to be perfect, he wants me to be free. He died so everyone, from the preacher’s kid to the prostitute, can live in complete, transcendent freedom.
Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
1 Peter 2:16
As Christians, we’ve been called to live as people who’ve been set free and to proclaim that liberty to all who are bound, but how many of us are living lives of freedom? How many of us are still trapped in old sins and believe destructive lies?
How many of us are living as slaves?
Fighting for Better
I’m passionate about freedom. Freedom for victims of human trafficking. Freedom for women trapped in the sex industry. Freedom from lies about a god who is disappointed in you, who wants you to be perfect, who doesn’t really love you. Freedom from believing you’re not good enough, needing to prove your worth, and searching for love in all the wrong places.
And that’s what this blog is all about. Fighting for Better means pursuing freedom in every aspect of your life and fighting every day to make the world a better place.
Living free isn’t easy—it’s a fight. I’m only beginning to learn what it means to fight for better, but I desperately want to live free and bring that freedom to others.
